Jayalalithaa better, under med observation at Apollo

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals here on Thursday night with fever and dehydration, was recuperating on Friday. A bulletin issued by the hospital said she “has no fever now and is taking a normal diet” and that she was under medical observation.

A large number of AIADMK ministers, other functionaries and cadre stayed around the hospital throughout the day. The entire Greams Road, off which the hospital is located, was occupied by AIADMK cadre. The road was also closed for traffic.

AIADMK cadre also offered special prayers at all temples, churches and mosques across the State. Madurai Adheenam Arunagirinatha Swamigal offered a special prayer for the well being of the Chief Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a bouquet and a letter to Jayalalithaa wishing her a speedy recovery. Acting Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao wished her a speedy recovery. In his letter, Rao said he was worried about her indisposition. “People’s prayers and God’s blessings are always with you,” he added.

The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister and the Governor for their concern and good wishes.
