CHENNAI: The O. Panneerselvam faction of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has announced that a team, headed by K.P. Munusamy, would hold negotiations with the faction belonging to Chief Minister E. Palanisamy camp.

The team will also include V Maitreyan and Ma Foi K Pandiarajan.

Meanwhile, former chief minister Panneerselvam said, “Before discussing the issue (of merger), discussion on conditions will not be fair. Something good will happen.”

The AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction yesterday announced the setting up of a committee to oversee merger talks between the camps headed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K. Palanisamy and his predecessor O. Panneerselvam.

OPS campaign leader K. Pandiarajan told ANI, "We have a got a formal invite from EPS camp for appointing a committee. We have agreed that we will go ahead and nominate the committee very soon by the end of the day."

Pandirajan informed that they have already submitted lakhs of affidavits, adding that they would continue to do work towards the goal of having talks with the rival faction.

"We will engage in discussions with the other party," he added.

Talks for a merger between the OPS and the EPS camps gained ground after an FIR was registered against AIADMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dinakaran for bribing Election Commission officials for staking claim of the 'Two Leaves' symbol of the party.
