CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) has received 188 applications manually for registration of real estate projects and 16 of them have been approved and registration number has been assigned to them. This was disclosed as Union Housing and Urban Development Secretary Durga Shankar reviewed the implementation of the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act, 2016.

Sources informed Express that 42 applications for registration of real estate projects are being held back due to lack of particulars for processing the file. It is learnt that letter has been sent calling for particulars. The remaining 130 applications are being processed.

Similarly, for the registration of real estate agents, a total of 64 applications have been received of which 18 have been approved and issued registration number. Sources said 20 applications are being held back as they lack particulars and details have been sought. “The remaining 26 applications are currently being screened.”

Interestingly, the applications which are to be submitted after July 31 deadline were to be penalised, as per an official release. But no details are available in this regard. Similarly, a website which has been created for Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory authority (www.tnrera.in) lacks transparency as the details of former CMDA employees who have been assigned the new task are missing, said developers.
Meanwhile, the online registration process, which is under development, will be operational in a week.
