CHENNAI: Nine candidates who appeared in the State merit list are under scanner after allegations that they produced fake nativity certificates to become eligible to participate in the State medical counselling.
All the nine students were said to be from Kerala, according to a senior health official.

Speaking to reporters at the counselling venue, health secretary J Radhakrishnan that a complaint was filed, but the certificates in question were under scrutiny. The government will take stringent legal action against them, if the allegation is proved. Such cases are reported in Maharashtra also.”

Radhakrishnan further added, “candidates have to be natives of Tamil Nadu to be eligibile.  The Candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu but studied from class VIII to XII either partly or completely in schools outside Tamil Nadu should produce the ‘nativity certificate.”
