CHENNAI: We should always add value to whatever we’re doing and work from the heart because that is the only way we can touch another person’s heart, said Kiruba Shankar, CEO, Business Blogging, at the valedictory ceremony of the two-day national entrepreneurship summit,  ‘Ignite 2017’, held at MOP Vaishnav College on Saturday.

He spoke of the significance of mentoring which helps give an entrepreneur an edge. “You should always look at learning from the best in the world,” he said. “Ask yourself in what field you want to be an expert and make sure to seek out people who have traversed that terrain. It always helps to seek guidance.”

Shankar spoke extensively about certain lessons he had learnt along his journey which included looking out for pain points as business opportunities, working on projects that are close to one’s heart, working on what mentors want and investing in yourself at all costs. “Single out a goal that gives you a flutter in your heart,” he said.  

Swetha, Dhiriti and Vaishnavi, third-year BBA students of MOP Vaishnav College, who won the first slot, were awarded a cash prize of `20,000 for their business model titled “Ways - the smart app.”

A team of Abinaya, Rizwan, Ramkaran, S Guna and Anirudh from DG Vaishnav College. who got the second place, received `10,000 for their model titled “Eateries.” For their mime depicting the journey of being an entrepreneur, right from conceptualisation to execution, Abhilasha, Sai Nikita, Swetha, Krithika, Shmirutha and Vaishali, second-year BBA students of MOP Vaishnav were awarded `12,000.

Earlier in the day, several prominent speakers like Shyam Sundar Nagarajan, founder of SMBSure, Swaathi K, CTO of Skcript Technologies and Manuranjith Ranganathan, CK’s Foods took part in panel discussions.
