HC rejects Pushpa’s plea against Sasikala’s elevation

Pushpa had filed the civil suit and applications to stall the alleged attempts made to elect Sasikala as the general secretary of the AIADMK at the meeting tentatively scheduled for December 29.

CHENNAI: Accepting the submissions of AIADMK party presidium chairman and former minister
E Madhusoodanan that expelled Rajya Sabha member Sasikala Pushpa and her husband had no locus standi to question the election of VK Sasikala as party’s general secretary at the general council meeting held on December 29, the Madras High Court closed the her application on the issue.

“In view of my aforesaid findings (not made available to the press), the application arising out of (Pushpa’s) civil suit from Madhusoodanan is allowed and the plaint in the original suit from Pushpa is struck off,” the judge said and added that in view of the order passed in the application from Madhusoodanan, the original applications in the civil suit of Pusha shall stand closed. Originally, Pushpa had filed the civil suit and applications to stall the alleged attempts made to elect Sasikala as the general secretary of the AIADMK at the meeting tentatively scheduled for December 29.
