COIMBATORE: Gold bars worth Rs 35 lakh were seized by DRI officials from a passenger who arrived here from Sharjah early this morning.

Kolamukath Kareem Sajid (36), of Malappuram in Kerala was arrested by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials after he arrived here by an Air Arabia flight.

The officials, who grew suspicious of his movements, searched him and found 1.16 kg of gold bars hidden in his rectum and other parts of the body, police said.

The gold bars were confiscated and Sajid was later handed over to police.
