TIRUCHY: The President of Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP, Tamilisai Soundarajan, on Thursday alleged irregularities in the organ transplant conducted on V K Sasikala’s husband Natarajan, and demanded a probe into the issue.

Addressing media persons at the Tiruchy Airport, Tamilisai claimed that the donor was brought in an air ambulance to Chennai rather than harvesting the organs at a government hospital and wondered whether the donor was really brain dead.

Further, she raised doubts over who footed the bill for the air ambulance. “There appears to be a big business in organ sharing that is being carried out in private hospitals, and it requires a detailed investigation.

Poor are being deprived of transplants due to commercial interests of certain private hospitals,” she said. She also emphasized why similar treatment was not given to former CM J Jayalalithaa.
