CHENNAI: Scotching rumours that he would be launching his political party on his birthday on December 12, actor Rajinikanth on Saturday said, “Ninety per cent of work involved in launching the party is over. I will make an announcement about launching the party at an appropriate time.”

During a brief interaction with reporters at the Chennai airport, Rajinikanth, who was returning from Varanasi after completing shooting for his upcoming film Petta ahead of schedule, said he would reveal his stance on the Lok Sabha elections once the polls were notified.

When a reporter asked him to reveal a punchline from Petta, Rajinikanth, with his characteristic laugh, said “Petta Paraak.”

Nearly 10 months ago, Rajinikanth confirmed his entry into politics and began preliminary works for launching a party by strengthening his fan association, rechristening it Rajini Makkal Mandram.

Office-bearers have been appointed at the district level. While his friend, actor Kamal Haasan, has already launched his political party and has been meeting people across the State, Rajinikanth has kept everyone guessing as to when he will launch his party.
