TIRUPATTUR: A Tirupattur court has issued summons to former AIADMK minister K C Veeramani, directing him to appear in person on November 26, in relation to allegations of submitting false information during the 2021 Legislative Assembly elections.

According to sources, Veeramani, who contested for the third time as an AIADMK candidate from the Jolarpet constituency in Tirupattur district, failed to secure the seat.

A week before the election, Ramamurthy, a businessman from Vellore, raised allegations that Veeramani had misrepresented his assets in the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, reportedly understating his property details.

In April 2021, Ramamurthy formally lodged a complaint with the EC, repeating his claims in the subsequent months. His complaint asserted that Veeramani’s affidavit included false information and sought his disqualification.

The case later reached the Madras High Court, where Ramamurthy filed a petition urging the EC to take action. Following a review, the High Court directed the chief electoral officer to pursue appropriate action against Veeramani.
