TIRUVARUR: Officially launching the DMK’s campaign for the upcoming Assembly election in Tiruvarur, party president and Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday said that the parties functioning under the leadership of the BJP, including the AIADMK, are attempting to create disturbance in Tamil Nadu by spreading fake news, as they were annoyed that the state has emerged on top in all spheres of developments under the DMK rule.
Terming the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) as the “trendsetter scheme” for other states, Stalin listed various initiatives implemented by his government. “BJP and its allies were disappointed as it became known to the people that all their narratives are nothing but baseless slander,” he said.
He was canvassing votes for the Secular Progressive Alliance candidates Poondi K Kalaivanan of Tiruvarur, T R B Rajaa of Mannargudi, K Marimuthu of Tiruthuraipoondi and V M S Mohamed Mubarak of Nannilam.
Highlighting the promises made in the DMK’s poll manifesto, Stalin said that not only the people of TN, but even the NDA parties know that the promises will be fulfilled by the DMK government.
Stalin further alleged that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has been taking the party in a downward spiral and had become a ‘branch secretary’ of the BJP. “The AIADMK, which had ruined the state during its rule between 2011 and 2021, has surrendered to BJP, which has been driving the whole country into a worse condition from 2014 onwards,” he said.
“The BJP, which has been the leader of the NDA, has bought the AIADMK, as it knows very well it does not have the strength to take us (DMK alliance) on in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
Alleging that the sole aim of the NDA is to stop the development of Tamil Nadu and to jeopardise the advancements brought about by the ‘Dravidian model’ (government), Stalin pointed out that education funds for the state’s children under the Samagra Shiksha scheme were denied by the centre in retaliation for not accepting their imposition of Hindi.
“Could we entrust the future of Tamil Nadu to those who have such deceitful intentions,” the DMK chief asked. He concluded his address with the assurance that ‘Dravidian model 2.0’ will take governance in TN to new heights.
