Introduce English in all schools, says Kancha Ilaiah

HYDERABAD: Social activist and professor Kancha Ilaiah has demanded introduction of  English medium of instruction at all levels in schools and colleges, saying that it is the only way to empower and provide employment opportunities to people from all sections of society.

“English should be introduced in all schools and colleges by Telangana government as that is the only way to bring equality among all sections of society and empower people from downtrodden sections. Also only english education can provide employment opportunities to youth in an era of modern technological developments,” said  Ilaiah.Speaking at the ‘Samajika Telangana’ state convention held by Telangana Social Front (TSF) at Osmania University here on Sunday, he urged parents from downtrodden sections to launch a movement to pressurise the Telangana government for introduction of english medium in all schools and colleges and send their children only to English medium schools.

Intellectuals and activists from various sections participated in the convention to come up with the strategy needed for achieving ‘Samajika Telangana’ (Social Telangana where all people from all sections live in equality) and expressed their opinions. Justice MN Rao pointed out that there were not enough opportunities for the downtrodden sections, pointing out that SC, ST, BCs and minorities should work together to achieve Samajika Telangana.

TSF convenor S Simhadri, Aam Aadmi Party Telangana president PL Vishweshar Rao, writer and activist Kaluva Mallaiah, activist D Veladri, Professor Bhangya Bhukya took part in the convention.
