HYDERABAD: The debate over chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao being conferred with Agriculture Leadership award by Indian Council for Food and Agriculture (ICFA) intensified with the Telangana Congress alleging that ICFA is an organisation with dubious background and conferring the award on Rao, who did nothing for the agriculture sector in the past four years, is shocking.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said, “In the last four years of his governance, Rao pushed the farming community into the most serious crisis ever.
The result of failure to implement his assurance on farm loan waiver, failure to provide minimum support prices and lack of pro-active measures by the government led to suicides of over 3,500 farmers. It is shocking that any worthwhile organisation would present agriculture achievement award to the CM,” he said. Uttam further added that any agriculture award to Rao is completely unacceptable as he is responsible for pushing Telangana’s farm sector into deepest crisis.“How a company registered in 2015 could claim that it has been giving awards from 2008,’’ he questioned.
