HYDERABAD: Alleging that the state government has been spending a major amount of money allocated for the welfare of SCs and STs for other purposes, the Dalit Bahujan Front (DBF) demanded the state government to come up with a white paper providing data on what percentage of the allocated fund was spent on them.

The DBF held a meet in Hyderabad on Sunday to identify and analyse the growth that reached the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Telangana. Korivi Vinay Kumar, founder of DBF said, “In last three years, out of `40,000 crore fund allocated for growth and welfare of the SCs and STs, only `19,000 crore was spent on them. Rest all went for other purposes and there is no clarity on where did the money go. We seek clarity on this from the government.”

“TS government claims growth in economy. What kind of a growth is it which has not reached the marginalised and to the grassroot level?” M Anjaneyulu from Actionaid NGO asked. The representatives from organisations like Kula Vipaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangham (KVPS) and MSS also participated in the meet.
