HYDERABAD: In what is seen as a clear indication that he is more inclined to quit the Telugu Desam and join the Congress, TTDP working president and Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday minced no words in criticising his party ministers in Andhra Pradesh for bowing before KCR and also contending that there was nothing wrong in fighting against the TRS in Telangana along with the Congress.
“What is the need for AP TDP leaders to accord such a grand welcome to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao when he visited the state (for a marriage in Anantapur recently). Why did they bow before Rao when his government in Telangana is arresting TDP leaders,’’ Revanth asked.
The firebrand TDP leader went on to add that AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was never accorded such a grand welcome during his visits to Hyderabad. “No TRS minister cares to welcome or greet Naidu during his Hyderabad visit,’’ he said.
Revanth Reddy, in a brief chat with newsmen on his return from Delhi, which led to speculation that he went to the national capital hold confabulations with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi over joining the Congress, alleged that AP ministers were being favoured by the TRS government with project work contracts. “AP finance minister and senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu got Rs 2,000 crore worth of contracts in Telangana thanks to Rao. That is why Ramakrishnudu does not even allow a word to be uttered against Rao.’’
Revanth further alleged that Paritala Sunitha’s son and TDP MLA Payyavula Keshav’s son-in-law, who have a joint liquor business, got a nod from the TS government to brew beer. “How did they get the licence?’’ he asked.
Revanth aid that the TTDP had been working with the Congress like during the Singareni employee union election and on ‘anti-people’ policies of the TRS government. “We will continue to do so,’’ he said, adding that there was nothing wrong in holding talks with Congress leadership as there was a possibility of forging an alliance with it. He, however, said that he had gone to Delhi to look into the aspect of fighting legally against the TRS MLAs who had collected money in the name of ‘labour’ for the party’s plenary.
TTDP meeting tomorrow
In the wake of Revanth Reddy’s open accusations against the party leaders and also expressing his views openly on alliances with other parties, the TTDP decided to hold an emergency meeting on October 20 to take stock of the situation.
