KARIMNAGAR: A circle inspector attached to the Women Police Station at Mancherial district headquarters was today suspended for allegedly harassing a woman complainant.

Deputy inspector general (Karimnagar range) C Ravi Varma took the action today following a complaint by the woman.

Varma told reporters that the woman had approached the police station with a complaint against her husband.

The inspector, who obtained her mobile number on the pretext of `counselling' her, started sending her objectionable messages and calling her, the DIG said.

After the woman brought this to the attention of higher police authorities, an enquiry was conducted and it was found that prima facie the inspector was harassing the woman, the DIG said.

The inspector was suspended and further inquiry is on, he said.
