BDL signs agreement for production of anti-submarine Torpedo 'Varunastra'

HYDERABAD: Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a mini-ratna government of India enterprise under Ministry of Defence and Naval Science & Technological Laboratory have signed a “Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology” for production of Varunastra.

The signed agreement document was presented by Raksha Rajya Mantri Dr Subhash Bhamre to CMD, BDL V Udaya Bhaskar in the presence of Raksha Mantri R Nirmala Seetharaman on the sidelines of DEFEXPO-2018 at Chennai on Wednesday, an official release said. Chief of Naval Staff, Secretary Defence R&D & Chairman, DRDO, SA to RM and senior officials from DRDO and Ministry of Defence were also present during the occasion. Varunastra is an anti-submarine Torpedo designed and developed by NSTL. BDL is the production agency for Varunastra. The company has established a dedicated manufacturing unit at Visakhapatnam exclusively for producing all under water weapons.
