NALGONDA: The State government has decided to change the working hours of libraries for the convenience of the public. As a pilot project, the government has selected Alair mandal headquarters library of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district and Nagarjunasagar library of Nalgonda district.

The present libraries are implementing timings which had been fixed years ago.  They currently function from 8 am to 11 am and then from 4 pm to 7 pm. However, this timing is not convenient to the unemployed youth and students, who prefer to take notes from the library. In this connection, the State government has decided to change the timings.

According to the new schedule, the libraries will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm, with a one hour interval for the staff from 1 pm to 2 pm. The timings in the other libraries will be altered after two or three months, once this method proves successful.

Currently, the State government has selected one library from each district to implement the new timings.
