HYDERABAD: AS the election schedule for the three seats, which are falling vacant in the Rajya Sabha from the State by April 2, was released, an interesting debate is taking place among TRS leaders whether Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s nephew Joginapally Santhosh Kumar will be sent to Upper House or not.

As Chief Minister himself already announced that one seat will be given to Yadavas (Gollas and Kurumas), all eyes are on the remaining two seats. Though several leaders are in the race for the two seats, party circles are curios whether Santhosh, who is now playing a key role in the party affairs, will be sent to the Rajya Sabha.

Santhosh was recently elevated to the post of general secretary of the TRS. Many of the seniors in the party are exerting pressure on the TRS chief to send the young leader to the Rajya Sabha.
In fact, in the 120 member State Assembly (including the nominated legislator), TRS has 89 members including the defectors.

With this strength, TRS can easily win all the three seats, for which biennial election schedule was issued. Last date of filing nominations for the election is March 12, while polling will be held on March 23, if it is needed.
