HYDERABAD:  A day after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to Mahbubnagar district, there was a wordy duel between Congress and TRS leaders over the development of Palamuru.“TRS has no moral right to talk against Congress,” former minister and senior Congress MLA DK Aruna said here on Saturday. She recalled that the Congress completed the irrigation projects in Palamuru. The Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation scheme was not completed because of TRS, she alleged.

“Don’t you know that the construction of Kalwakurthy LIS was stopped because of the corruption of your minister?” Aruna asked the TRS leaders. Speaking to reporters at her residence here, Gadwal MLA Aruna alleged that TRS did nothing for Gadwal. Aruna further alleged that the TRS government released funds for the canals of the irrigation projects which were constructed by the Congress. Another senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao found fault with the language of KT Rama Rao.

“If you abuse Sonia Gandhi once again, I will come to your house,” Hanumantha Rao warned KT Rama Rao. Rao wanted CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to keep his son under control.

TRS retaliates
In a counterattack against Congress leaders, TRS MLAs V Srinivas Goud and Ala Venkateswar Reddy recalled that DK Aruna welcomed those Congress leaders who diverted Krishna water to Rayalaseema. Gattu irrigation project was not sanctioned by the Congress, they said. “TRS government is responsible for providing water to Palamuru. Congress did nothing to Telangana. When in power, the Congress leaders developed Rayalaseema and Andhra. They never provided water to farmers, but collected mobilisation advances from contractors,” the TRS MLAs alleged.

“If the projects were completed in Congress regime, why did they fail to provide water to at least 50,000 acres? Around 14 lakh people migrated from Mahbubnagar district in search of livelihood during Congress rule,” the TRS MLAs claimed.
