Justice Radhakrishnan takes oath as new CJ of Hyderabad High Court

The newly appointed Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan was administered the oath of office by Governor ESL Narasimhan.

HYDERABAD: The newly appointed Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan was administered the oath of office by Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.

Justice Radhakrishnan was the 36th Chief Justice of the present High Court. Governor Narasimhan and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated the new CJ. Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister KE Krishnamurthy, Telangana deputy CM Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Council chairman K Swamy Goud, CLP leader K Jana Reddy, several ministers and legislators attended the brief ceremony.

Sitting and retired judges, government pleaders, advocates and senior bureaucrats were also present. The High Court has got the regular Chief Justice after nearly three years. There were two Acting Chief Justices after Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta retired as the Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court on attaining the age of superannuation i.e. 62 years on May 6, 2015. Justice Dilip B Bhosale was appointed as the ACJ from May 7, 2015.

When Justice Bhosale was elevated as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court in July 2016, the senior most judge of the High Court Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was appointed as the ACJ with effect from July 30, 2016 and was in the post till July 6 this year.

Justice Radhakrishnan was born on April 29, 1959. He is the son of late N Bhaskaran Nair and late K Parukutty Amma, both advocates, who practised at Kollam in Kerala. He secured LL.B degree from Bangalore University and enrolled on Dec 11, 1983 and practised at Thiruvananthapuram and later shifted to high court of Kerala in 1988. He was appointed as judge of Kerala high court in Oct 2004 and was the Acting CJ of the Kerala high court from May 13, 2016 to Aug 1, 2016 before his elevation as the CJ of Chhattisgarh high court in March 2017.ends.
