KAMAREDDY: In a heart wrenching incident, a three year old girl named Kirthana fell into a vat of hot sambar(lentil soup) in a kitchen at Backward Classes Residential School in Pitlam village in Kamareddy district on Friday. Despite being taken to Nizamabad Government Hospital on the same day, she did not survive as she had received burns covering nearly 85% of her body.

According to K Nagabhushanam, ASI at Pitlam police station, Keerthana was the daughter of Kishan and Shobha from Maharsthra who had been working at the school as cooks for the past few months. On Friday, Kishan had to leave town due to visit a funeral in his family and Kirthana was under her mother’s supervision.

After cooking the sambar, Shobha and her colleagues placed the vat aside and covered it partially with a plate. Kirthana, who had been playing nearby, later sat on the vat’s lid and fell in due to its imbalance. Immediately, people nearby rushed to the spot and took her out of the vat. They cleaned her dress and later shifted her to a local hospital. However, a doctor there advised them to take Kirthana to GGH in Nizamabad. However, she died on Friday night while undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case under IPC 174 section.
