Telangana brushes aside Andhra Pradesh’s objection on Sitarama project

HYDERABAD:With neighbouring Andhra Pradesh objecting to the construction of Sitarama lift irrigation project on the Godavari, Telangana irrigation minister T Harish Rao on Monday informed Union minister of road transport and highways and water resources Nitin Gadkari that Sitarama was an old project and it was re-engineered and redesigned as per the needs of Telangana after the bifurcation of the erstwhile united state.

Rajiv Sagar Dummugudem was redesigned and named as Sitarama project, he explained.
Harish Rao also submitted a memorandum to the Union minister, urging him to release `60 crore due for the last three months to the state under Command Area Development and Water Management.
