HYDERABAD: At a time when Swami Paripoornananda is still under house arrest, BJP state unit chief K Laxman said that if the Swami was willing, his party was ready to induct him into it. “BJP welcomes any prominent person ready to work for the party. We will give party tickets to some of such influential persons, if they want to contest the ensuing general elections,” the BJP leader replied, when asked about the possibility of BJP fielding Swami Paripoornananda from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Laxman was taking part in a “meet the press” programme organised here on Tuesday.

BJP leaders back Swami

Despite criticism from various circles, head of the Kakinada Sri Peetham, Swami Paripoornananda, continued to be under house arrest for the second consecutive day on Tuesday at his Jubilee Hills residence, here.

He has been put under house arrest since Monday, after Rachakonda Police denied permission for his proposed ‘Darmagraha Yatra’ against the comments made by controversial film critic Kathi Mahesh.
BJP leaders Bandaru Dattatreya and Ch Ramachandra Reddy visited the priest at his residence on Tuesday. On Tuesday also, tensed moments were witnessed at the Swamiji’s residence, with police deployed round the clock.

A few activists who came to meet the Swami and extend their support, had to return unhappy, as they were not allowed to meet him. Even BJP MLC N Ramchandra Rao was not allowed to meet the Swami. Police officials cited security issues for not allowing them to meet the Swami.
