HYDERABAD: The School Education department has decided to soon form panel inspection teams to regularly monitor government and local body schools across the state, including the syllabus completion and implementation of the midday meal scheme.

According to proceedings issued by Telangana School Education director E Naveen Nicolas on Sunday, each team will inspect 100 primary and upper primary schools and 50 high schools every quarter. The teams will operate under specific guidelines, with defined roles for each member.

The teams that will inspect primary and upper primary schools will have three members each, a primary school headmaster as nodal officer and two secondary grade teachers.

Likewise, teams that will inspect high schools will consist of nine members, including a gazetted headmaster as nodal officer, seven subject teachers, and a school assistant for physical education.

The panels will cover 24,146 government and local body schools: 16,381 primary, 3,094 upper primary, and 4,671 high schools.

A senior officer from the School Education department told TNIE, “The full-time panel inspection teams will monitor academic and administrative functions, including lesson plans, syllabus completion, assessments, co-curricular, library, laboratory, and physical education activities.

They will also check midday meals. Teachers deputed to the teams will serve full-time, while the District Education Officer will ensure teaching continues in their absence. Each team’s tenure will last one academic year.”

Once in place, the teams will visit schools regularly, complete inspections according to procedures, and submit weekly feedback to DEOs. All findings will be uploaded to the department’s online portal.
