WARANGAL: Adrunken Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) constable allegedly assaulted a 112 emergency service on-duty constable in Warangal late on Wednesday night.
The incident took place in the Ursu area and came to light on Saturday evening after the 112 on-duty constable, Santosh Reddy, lodged a complaint against the accused. The accused was identified as J Manoj, a 2018-batch constable attached to the TGSP 4th Battalion at Mamnoor.
According to Mills Colony Inspector K Swamy, Manoj was allegedly creating a nuisance on the main road while under the influence of alcohol around midnight on Wednesday. Locals called the 112 service for assistance, following which a police team reached the spot.
Santosh Reddy asked him to put on his shirt as he was reportedly half-naked. Manoj allegedly refused to comply and slapped Santosh Reddy.
Following the assault, Santosh Reddy and two locals allegedly beat Manoj. He then fled the spot. The duty constable and locals later shifted him to MGM Hospital and informed his family members.
Mills Colony police registered a case, arrested Manoj and produced him before a court.
