HYDERABAD: State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C Sudharshan Reddy has clarified that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is aimed solely at preparing an accurate and error-free electoral roll and has no connection whatsoever with any welfare schemes implemented by the government.
Reviewing the progress of the SIR exercise with district election officers (DEOs) and district collectors through a video conference, Sudharshan Reddy focused on the pace of digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs). With only five days left for submission of EFs, he directed all districts to complete 100 per cent digitisation by August 3.
He said 76 per cent of the digitisation process had been completed across Telangana, while rural areas had already achieved 90 per cent.

The CEO instructed DEOs to intensify efforts in urban areas, particularly in Serilingampally, Rangareddy, Medchal, GHMC, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam, to ensure completion within the stipulated timeline.
The CEO also directed officials to obtain the signatures of booth level agents (BLAs) representing all recognised political parties while preparing lists of Absent, Shifted and Dead (ASD) voters. He said meetings with political parties at the ERO, AERO and BLO levels should be videographed and properly documented. Officials were also directed to identify and map the electoral details of VIP and VVIP electors.
Emphasising accuracy, Sudharshan Reddy instructed BLOs and supervisors to exercise utmost care while uploading voter details from the Enumeration Forms. He directed electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) to closely monitor the process and eliminate errors at every stage.
He warned that disciplinary action would be initiated against BLOs and supervisors found negligent in the digitisation process.
The CEO also directed officials to expedite rationalisation of polling stations in accordance with the Election Commission of India guidelines.
