MANGALORE: The sight of land, left barren due to scarcity of labourers, spells opportunities for a little known Seer Nithyananda Swami of Thrayambak Ashram at Aramboor Village in the Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district.
Under the Seer's unique ‘Samoohika Naati’ (mass transplantation) drive, has begun reaping dividends for both the motivated and the Seer—the motivator.
The biggest problem he faced initially was finding labourers take up mass sowing and mass transplantation. He, however, overcame it by bringing hundreds of people from different walks of life volunteering to transplant paddy saplings.
As the unique drive, ‘Samoohika Nati’ (mass transplantation) picked up pace this year; even elected representatives like Sullia MLA S Angare and Sullia TP President Sumathi have jumped into the bandwagon. The initiative in the hinterland is seen no less than as a miracle.
Why did he do it?
Nithyananda Swamiji wandered after he became a recluse. Pained on seeing agricultural practices take a backseat at Sullia in 2007 he decided to stay behind in order to help people re-discover the potential
of community work.
Nithyananda Swamiji has also demonstrated the power of community in coastal villages like Brahmavar, Pavanje and Hirebettu.
