Luxury on a rickshaw? Is that even possible? The management at Taj Mahal Hotel says it is. They recently took a step in this direction by introducing the luxury rickshaw tours to discover the city up, close and personal.

The ride comes in association with When in India Tours that takes you on an excursion of the walled city like no other. One can see the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid, Digamber Jain Temple, a number of ruins, havelis and bazaars like Chawri Bazaar, Kinari Bazaar and Ajmeri Gate. On the way, you can shop for specialities that each bylane has to offer like jewellery, artifacts, decorative items,  stoles, handmade paper merchadise and a lot more. You can do everything at your pace, conveniently and safely. If food is what gets you excited, you can savour some of the popular Purani Dilli delights en route. It is the only organised tour of this kind with special brochures and audio aid. These rides can be customised as per guest’s requirements.

And these are no ordinary rikshaws. They have been customised for safety and comfort by When in India Tours. The seat and the back of the vehicle has got an extra layer of padding and the top of the roof is strong and sturdy. “The rickshaw-pullers underwent a screening process for us to gauge their skill set. Thereafter, the ones with the best rickshaw-pulling skills were chosen with their complete identification. Further, they were trained by the company for their knowledge, speech, grooming and courtesy. They are all reliable and uniformed and will be good company during the tour,” says Lakshay Nirula, Head Concierge at The Taj Mahal Hotel.
