Imagery of Impeccable Artistry

Priti Bajaj

Winters haven’t been too kind to Priti Bajaj of ArtLife Gallery. They are utterly cold and gloomy on most days, but there is one place where she finds spring—at the gallery in Noida, where the new exhibition called Figures in the Landscape, throws up a gamut of resplendent hues, adding to Bajaj’s joy.

Eight artists—Janes Sekhar Roy from Kolkata, NP Pandey from Haryana, Jatin Chaudhary from Faridabad, Mahmood Ahmed- from Aligarh, Krishna Mahavar from Jaipur, V Dakshinamurthy from Chennai, K V Shankar from Karnataka and Golmei Gandumpu from Imphal—will present 30 works. "The paintings have a very specific flavour of the state they come from, yet they seem to stem from the same idea of love for nature in its varied colour.  Landscapes in different mediums—from thick brush strokes showing blue-green mountain majesties to aerial scenes of rolling crops—the artworks will showcase India in all its glory. “It’s a beautiful theme. I am personally fond of landscapes, so looking at all these works makes me really happy. They bring images of flowers, lush green meadows and mountains to mind; more like light playing with colours,” says Bajaj, adding, “French Impressionist Claude Monet’s landscapes were breathtaking when I witnessed the special show on the great artist in Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art in Las Vegas in 2012. They left an indelible mark and I am sure that the works of our artists in this exhibit will do the same to you.”
