MYSURU: To educate people about the importance of nutritious traditional dishes, ‘Anna Arogya’, a WhatsApp group, has been created by Sahaja Samrudha, an NGO in Mysuru.
Daily, Sahaja Samrudha members post new recipes in the group along with a brief explanation about their health benefits.
Most of the people in urban areas who purchase millets are generally not aware on the ways to prepare dishes out of them. So the recipes that are posted motivate people to prepare dishes, thereby spreading knowledge about traditional food items.
Sahaja Samrudha members are planning to post recipes of delicious, nutritious and tasty dishes like pulav, vegetable bath, chitranna, nutritious dosa using five types of millets, paddus, navane idli, chigali, sajje roti and ragi methi roti in the group. Most of the dishes are said to be good for diabetic, heart patients and those suffering from various other ailments.
Dieticians, PhD holders on food science, food technologists, agriculture university employees and experts give their tips to the group members.
