CPM district panel flays Railways’ plans

The CPM district committee has urged the Railways to withdraw from its reported move to bifurcate the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM district committee has urged the Railways to withdraw from its reported move to bifurcate the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division.

“The move will undermine the very existence of a Railway Division. Also, it will result in Kerala losing its dream project of getting a Railway Zone,” said CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan.

Nagappan in a statement here said once the division is bifurcated Thiruvananthapuram Division will lose eight express trains starting from Nagercoil, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli.  

Currently, Nemom Railway station operates as the outer station for Thiruvananthapuram Central station. Once Nemom is made part of Madurai Division, all developmental initiatives surrounding Nemom and Kochuveli will be affected, he said.
