THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan warned those stalling developmental projects by raising frivolous issues. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the SunTec campus at Technocity in Pallipuram.
“The government will not tolerate the section of people who sabotage large developmental projects. Such groups will be considered anti-developmental,” said Pinarayi. The Chief Minister was also critical of the practice of collecting ‘nokkukooli’ by certain trade unions. He warned under no circumstances will such practices be permitted.
New campus for SunTec
The new campus will enable SunTec to create an additional capacity for more than 1,500 software professionals. Spread across 10 acres, the campus will have four buildings and a clubhouse. In the first phase, the Software Development Centre spanning 3.10 lakh square feet, which can accommodate 1,500 software professionals, and the 40,000 square feet club house will be built.
The campus will also house several state-of-the-art facilities for its employees such as a swimming pool, restaurants and play areas. It will also have a waterbody to help in rainwater harvesting. SunTec is also looking at several energy efficient technologies and non-conventional energy sources to make the campus as energy neutral as possible. The new campus is expected to be operational in 18 to 24 months. The CM extended government support for the project.
“This campus is one of our dreams. When we started planning, we wanted the it to be a part of the natural environment,” said Nandakumar K, Founder and CEO, SunTec Business Solutions. “We have designed the campus to incorporate the natural flora and environment of the region and helps us to foster creativity and innovation in our work.” The campus, when completed, will be the first to have the Platinum Green Mark certification from the Singapore Building Authority.
The CM, who is particular about keeping the schedule, expressed his displeasure over stretching the time limit and cut short his speech As part of the event, SunTec, through its employee initiative SNEHA, provided 90 scholarships to upper primary school students in the area and committed to provide scholarships for engineering and medical students from the Government Higher Secondary School. About 200 Onam kits were also distributed to the needy families in the ward where the campus is being set up.
