'Couldn't take farmers on board': PM Modi orders repeal of three farm laws

A few months before the Punjab elections, PM Modi on Friday declared that in the coming winter session of parliament, his government will take back the controversial farm reform laws. Sticking to the pro-small farmers narrative of the government, Modi sought to project the flexibility for not being able to take "some of the farmers on board" by arguing that the three farm laws had received overwhelming support from a large number of stakeholders.
