Cyclone Mandous weakens into deep depression; many areas waterlogged, trees uprooted

The cyclonic storm 'Mandous', which crossed the coast near Mahabalipuram in the wee hours of Saturday, has moved completely inland and weakened into a deep depression over north Tamil Nadu. Light to moderate rainfall is predicted in most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places across north interior Tamil Nadu. Over 9,000 people have been lodged in 205 relief centers.
