Rajiv Gandhi assassination case: AG Perarivalan walks free after 31 years | Case timeline

The Supreme Court on May 18 ordered the release of #AG Perarivalan, a life-term convict in the former Pime Minster Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case. The top court invoked its powers under Art 142 as his mercy plea kept shuttling between Governor and President. Article 142 enables the court to pass orders to do complete justice in a case. The Court can extend itself to end a dispute in a manner which would befit the facts of the case in such instances
