The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) swept the country's general elections in the first elections after the 2024 student uprising. The bloody student-led revolt ousted former PM Sheikh Hasina. BNF chief Tarique Rahman, who is the son of the late former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, is set to be the Prime Minister. The 60-year-old returned home after 17 years in self-exile in London last year.
