Realising the need to make people aware of the importance of organ donation, ‘Aksharavettam, a Facebook community has started an intense campaign to register one million people for donating their organs. www.onemilliondonors.org the official website for the purpose has already been launched and the response so far istremendous, said Kochouseph Chittilapilly, one of the patrons of the campaign.

The website can be accessed by logging in through Facebook. And if one agrees to donate his organs, a certificate regarding this will be displayed on their time line on Facebook.

The aim of the campaign is to make one’s friends and relatives aware of his willingness to donate organs. This will prevent a situation where an opportunity to transplant one’s organ is lost because his friends and relatives remain unaware of his willingness to donate.

The campaign also aims to prepare a database of willing donors.
