Govt to roll out more IUCD services

The State Government is all set to roll out additional 105 facilities under expanding access to Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) services programme across all 30 districts soon.

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government is all set to roll out additional 105 facilities under expanding access to Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) services programme across all 30 districts soon.
Health and Family Welfare Department had launched the programme with support of Jhpiego, an affiliate of US-based Johns Hopkins University, in January 2015.

Speaking at a State level experience sharing workshop, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda said there has been commendable increase of IUCD services in the State through the programme. He emphasised on a strong review and monitoring mechanism for success of any public health programme and its extension for better result.
So far,118 sub-district level facilities across 24 districts have been strengthened through a package of comprehensive IUCD services, including post-partum, post-abortion and interval IUCD insertion and family planning counselling services.  There has been an increase in percentage of post-partum women accepting IUCD from eight per cent in 2014-15 to 23 pc in 2016-17.
Director of National Health Mission Shalini Pandit, Country Director of Jhpiego Bulbul Sood and Director of Family Welfare Dr Binod Kumar Mishra also spoke.
