CHENNAI:Soulful music, different varieties of amethyst and a single ray of the sun…the setting inside Wandering Artist was perfect for Divya Srinivasan’s crystal meditation class. “There is no narrow way to define what crystal meditation is. It is done using natural resources like semi-precious stones and crystals to correct the imbalance in the body, and also enhance the quality of the body,” says Divya who has been teaching crystal meditation for three years. “A personal issue led me to crystal healing. Alternative healing helped me empower myself, today I am different from what I was.”
The knowledge on semi-precious stones is traditional. Many wear navaratna rings, and most of us have crystals at our home. We eat from semi-precious metals as well. All of this goes to show that they have a lot of positive energy. “This is just a traditional way of bringing the earth element into your life. We know intuitively that plants help heal problems in the body. Similarly, crystals too play a role in our life,” she explains. Most civilisations and religions have used crystals and in these modern times, they’re used in electronics. “Most advanced technologies are based on crystal. There is more to crystal than its beauty. A lot of energy in its purest form is found in this,” she adds.
Our view of the earth is limited and we see only a spectrum of colours. Crystal meditation goes beyond that; we need to extend our belief system and see crystals as living beings. “If we are willing to let go of ourselves, we will learn that crystals have a lot of benefits. Each imbalance in the body makes use of a different crystal. They relieve the blocked energy within you and enhance the qualities,” she shares.
Many people who come to Divya complain of stress especially related to relationships. “We withdraw because we don’t feel safe. That causes imbalances. Most of us are unstable and unprotected. A guided meditation can help imbibe the qualities of the crystal and let go of what is troubling you,” she smiles.
Meditations are of various kinds and for crystal meditation, it is better that you are guided. You need to physically hold the crystals, not all the time, but they need to be near you. “The principles of all kinds of meditation are the same — to be focused on yourself. When guided, the impact is more,” she says.
The time taken for the crystal to work on person differs. It is all about the state of mind. “Healing is a process. Sometimes there are dramatic results and some are slow. It all depends on the person’s willingness to be open minded,” she shares.
Divya believes the crystal chooses you, and not the other way. While some of the stones do not suit a person (a gemologist can guide you), you can experiment with semi-precious stones and see which one you can connect to. Most emotional instabilities can be corrected by crystal healing.
