HYDERABAD: The state government has launched Telangana Victim Compensation Scheme, 2015 for awarding compensation to victims of crime.
Accordingly, the Telangana government has come out with the scheme which will come into effect from April 1. Orders to this effect were issued on Saturday.
The government will constitute Victim Compensation Fund under a separate head of account. The scheme will be applicable to families whose income does not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh a year. Employees of state or central government, boards, corporations and public undertakings and income tax payees will not be eligible. Eligibility shall be on a recommendation made by the court. The compensation to victims for loss of life or injury (including dowry death) will be Rs 3 lakh for victims aged below 40 years, Rs 2 lakh for those aged between 40 and 60 years and up to Rs 1 lakh for victims aged above 60 years.
In case of permanent disability (80 pc or more), Rs 2 lakh will be paid those those aged below 40 years and Rs 1 lakh for victims aged 40 to 60 years and Rs 50,000 for those aged above 60 years.
In case of partial disability (up to 80 pc) Rs 1 lakh will be paid to those aged up to 40 years, Rs 50,000 for those between 40 and 60 years and `25,000 for victims aged above 60 years. Loss of any limb or part of the body due to acid attacks irrespective of age fetches a compensation of `3 lakh.
The compensation for rape victims is `2 lakh and for loss or injury causing severe mental agony to women, child victims it is `50,000.
