RANCHI: In a tragic accident, four youths, including Trisha Singh, daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, were killed in a fatal road accident on Marine Drive under Sonari police station area in the early hours of Thursday.
The accident took place at around 3 am, when a Swift car carrying the four youths rammed into a trailer parked along the roadside. The collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled, trapping all four occupants inside.
Locals and the police used gas cutters to cut open the car and retrieve the four victims. The accident took place near Domuhani Marine Drive, under the jurisdiction of the Sonari police station.
The deceased have been identified as Trisha Singh, Sarthak Agrawal, Naman Gupta and Vanshika Khandelwal. All four were Class 12 students.
According to local residents, a heavy truck had been left unattended in the middle of Marine Drive since around 10 pm on Wednesday after it broke down. In the early hours of Thursday, a speeding car, reportedly out of control, rammed into the rear of the stationary truck.
The impact was severe, leaving the front portion of the car badly damaged and wedged beneath the truck. The vehicle was extensively damaged, trapping all its occupants inside.
On receiving information about the accident, police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The bodies of the victims were trapped inside the mangled vehicle and had to be extricated with the help of rescue equipment.
“Four people have died in the accident after a Swift car rammed into a truck left unattended following a breakdown. The accident took place at around 2-2:30 am on Thursday,” said DSP Jamshedpur, Manoj Thakur. Further investigation is on to get into the details of the accident, he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his condolences on the social media platform X.
“I am deeply distressed by the extremely tragic and heart-wrenching news of the deaths of the daughter of my colleague and sister, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, and others in a road accident on the NH highway in Jamshedpur. The grief of losing one's child is beyond words and unbearable for any parent or family.
In this extremely difficult hour, my deepest condolences are with sister Deepika and the bereaved families. There are no words for this irreparable loss. May Marang Buru grant peace to the departed souls and give the bereaved families the strength to bear this immense sorrow,” stated Soren on X.
