Surat diamond merchant gives away 600 cars, flats and cash to employees as 'Diwali gifts'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering via video conferencing. Also, the Prime Minister himself gifted the car keys to a few employees in the national capital New Delhi.

Surat-based diamond trader Savji Dholakia, who is known for presenting expensive gifts to his employees, has now presented hundreds of cars to his employees for this Diwali. 

Dholakia gifted Renault KWID and Maruti Suzuki Celerio cars to 600 employees. A thousand more staff were presented cash deposits and apartments too. It is estimated that the showroom value of the 600 cars would be over Rs 14.62 crores.

"The on-road price of both the cars are up to Rs. 4.4 lakh and Rs. 5.38 lakh, respectively," Said Dholakia said in one of his Facebook posts.

The businessman gave away these 'Diwali gifts' in a huge ceremony called 'Skill India Incentive Ceremony' in Surat, Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering via video conferencing. The Prime Minister himself gifted the car keys to a few employees in New Delhi.

Dholakia is famous across the country for gifting lavish gifts to his employees on festivals. The diamond merchant has a Facebook fan page called 'Savji Dholakia fans India' with over 3,000 followers.

In September, the businessman hit the headlines for presenting Mercedes Benz SUVs to three senior staffers who completed 25 years in the company. The on road price of one SUV is said to be Rs 1 crore. 

In 2017, Dholakia had gifted 1200 Datsun Redi-GO cars to his employees on the occasion of new year.

In the previous year, the merchant had given a Diwali bonus worth Rs 51 crore to his employees. He also presented 1,260 cars and 400 flats to his employees.
