KAKINADA: “My desire is to see our coalition government move forward with greater strength and efficiency. For this, all of us must work together without hurting anyone’s dignity, particularly that of the Jana Sena Party,” Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Tuesday.
After launching Rs 1,500 crore works in the Pithapuram constituency, he addressed the public meeting at the RRBHR College grounds stating that the government was committed to fulfilling its electoral promises and taking up development works based on the needs of the people. He outlined various welfare and development initiatives being implemented in the constituency and said projects worth Rs 1,500 crore were being launched or taken up as part of efforts to transform Pithapuram into a model constituency.
“People’s development should remain our primary objective. We should identify their needs first and work with sincerity to fulfil them and take forward their hopes and aspirations,” he said.
He also distributed laptops to meritorious Class 10 and Intermediate students and handed over fishing nets, vehicles and other support material to fishermen. Cheques were distributed to self-help groups.
“We are taking steps to establish Pithapuram not merely as a constituency, but as a benchmark for development,” he saidss of the State and the country.
Pawan Kalyan announced that arrangements would be made to set up his camp office in Pithapuram within the next three to four months.
Road works worth over Rs 200 crore have been completed or are underway, with more than 600 CC and BT roads opened for public use. Drinking water projects worth around Rs 470 crore are progressing. The Nagulapalli Comprehensive Protected Drinking Water Scheme in Uppada Kothapalli mandal was modernised at a cost of Rs 10 crore to benefit 97,000 people. Village drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Amarajeevi Jaladhara account for Rs 320 crore, while municipal works in Pithapuram and Gollaprolu under AMRUT 2.0 and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank total Rs 140 crore.
An underground drainage system costing Rs 225 crore, two sewage treatment plants with a combined capacity of 7.2 million litres per day, a 40-tonne wet waste processing plant and public toilets at five locations are being established. Development of Mogali Suryudi Cheruvu has also commenced.
The Centre has approved Rs 323 crore for a protective wall to tackle sea erosion at Uppada. IIT Madras has completed the design and survey, and construction is expected to begin soon.
A Road Over Bridge in Pithapuram under PM Gati Shakti has been sanctioned at Rs 118 crore. Other projects include an AYUSH Medical College at Rs 100 crore and others.
