Sexual assault case: Prajwal Revanna remanded to judicial custody till July 8

He was produced before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court judge after his four-day Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody ended.

Bengaluru: A court in Karnataka on Saturday remanded former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of rape and sexual abuse of several women, to judicial custody till July 8.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) took Revanna into police custody, seeking a body warrant against him in the fourth case registered at the Cyber police station of the Crime Investigation Department (CID).

The 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court ordered the continuation of the suspended JD(S) leader's judicial custody until July 8.

The fourth FIR also names three additional individuals, including former Hassan BJP MLA Preetham Gowda and his two associates, Sharath and Kiran, for allegedly leaking the videos.

The sections invoked in the fourth FIR include IPC sections 354(A) (sexual harassment), 354(D) (stalking), 354(B) (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), along with Section 66E (violation of privacy) of the Information Technology Act.

So far, the SIT has taken the former MP into 26 days of police custody.

The sexual harassment cases came to light after pen drives containing explicit videos allegedly involving Revanna were reportedly circulated in Hassan.

he first case against him was filed on April 28, 2024, when a 47-year-old maid lodged a sexual harassment complaint against the MP. To date, a total of four complaints have been registered against him in Hassan and Bengaluru. He was arrested on May 31, shortly after landing at Bengaluru International Airport from Munich, Germany.
