BENGALURU: A day after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the MEA received the Karnataka government’s request to impound the passport of JDS MP Prajwal Revanna only on May 21, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara took a dig at the Centre.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, the Home Minister said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April and the External Affairs Minister’s statement shows that the PMO had not communicated it to the MEA. “What happened to the CM’s letter? This shows how the Centre works,” he said.

The Minister said Prajwal has to return to the country once his diplomatic passport is impounded as he can not stay in any other country.

On the alleged lock-up death in Davanagere district and vandalising of the police station, Dr Parameshwara said that based on a complaint the police had brought the accused to the station and within seven minutes, he developed health complications. Details will be known after getting the postmortem report, he said.

He said the government will take stern action against the rowdy elements. He urged Opposition leaders not to show Bengaluru in a bad light. “Let them make allegations against the government and if there are any mistakes, that will be corrected, but it is not correct to show Bengaluru in a bad light,” he said.
