ALAPPUZHA: Sebastian, the prime accused in the case of missing realtor Bindhu, landed in police custody while trying to surrender before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Ernakulam.
Following information of surrender, the investigation team had deployed shadow police on the court premises and they picked him up while he was trying to escape from the court.  He decided to surrender after the District and Sessions Court here dismissed his anticipatory bail plea on Thursday.

Sebastian, 48, of Changatharayil, Pallipuram, is the first accused in the case registered by Pattanakkad police in connection with the forging of a fake power of attorney in the name of Bindhu. Three others arrested in the case are under judicial custody.

The investigation team said further questioning of Sebastian could lead to a breakthrough in the case.

T Mini alias Jaya, second accused in the case, had earlier surrendered before the court. She had confessed during the interrogation that she signed various land deal documents duping as Bindhu at the behest of Sebastian.

The SIT had found that Mini was involved in forging the power of attorney, driving licence and SSLC book of Bindhu, who is missing since August 2013.

The investigation had taken a turn following the suicide of Manoj, 46, of Thaikkoottathil, Pallipuram, an auto driver, who was a close friend of Sebastian. Manoj, who was earlier quizzed by police in connection with the case, was found hanging in his house on June 28.

Bindhu, 46, the spinster daughter of the late Padmanabhan Pillai and the late Ambikadevi, of Padma Nivas, Kadakkarapally, Cherthala, went missing since August 2013.
