JK Organisation Forays Into Defence Sector

Indian private sector conglomerate, JK Organisation marked their entry into the defence sector after their acquisition of majority stake in  Bangalore based Deepti Electronics & Electro-Optics (DELOPT), which manufactures defence electronics, avionics and electro-optics among other products.

The company was acquired through JK Organisation’s group company Global Strategic Technologies Ltd. (GST). The company aims to cater to technological support to the armed forces.

In 2013, the Union government approved FDI in the defence sector opening up opportunities for increased participation in the sector, which has one of the highest spending in the world. “The government is committed to opening up the defence sector to private sector participation and, together with defence offsets, offers a significant opportunity for companies with a strong R&D and an industrial manufacturing excellence,”  Harsh Pati Singhania, Director JK Organisation said in a statement.

Delopt who have over 100 engineers and scientists are involved in areas of operation such as design Solution, embedded electronics systems, video analytics for security/ surveillance systems, Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Airborne Systems among other products and solutions for the armed forces.
