■ A lot of weight is in your head as well. You need to get your head sorted out first. The weight will not go away automatically but it will definitely help if you start dieting and exercising. My biggest health achievement has been losing weight after my second child—son Yug—was born. It was really difficult; I was 36-years-old at that point of time and the age factor was a big hurdle in getting rid of the fat. It was much easier when my daughter Nysa was born. It required a lot of discipline and thought. All this came with taking care of the kids, it became a much bigger deal than it was earlier.
■ I maintain a balanced diet which is rich in protein, filled with vitamins and very low in carbohydrates. I have a family history of diabetes and I have to be careful and take care of it as much as I can now so that I don’t have to be subjected to it later. I consume high quality protein—chicken, fish and eggs, paneer, nuts etc. I am a hardcore non-vegetarian. I hate unhealthy dieting and eat meals properly five times a day.
■ I love hitting the gym and sweating it out. I do very heavy weightlifting. I lift weights five days a week and that is my high. I do squatting or dead lifting and chest presses. I feel you can’t follow two types of fitness routines. You can either follow one obsessively but you cannot do too many things at once because too many cooks spoil the broth. You need to follow one routine obsessively and be 300 per cent with it in every which way. I concentrate more on staying fit than losing weight.
