Just two days after criticising the state government, Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj said he was happy with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his ministers.

He was interacting with reporters on the sidelines of a function organised in memory of South African icon Nelson Mandela, held here on Wednesday. “This government is still new and needs time to work things out. No MLA comes to me with complaints and I do not tell the government what to do. But if I have something to say, I will write to the CM,” he said.

On tainted ministers in the Cabinet, he said there were complaints against a minister regarding the mining issue. That minister has been removed. There have not been any complaints since then.

He also said he does not have anything to do with the present government wasting time over non-issues. “Personally, I feel that I have installed the government and my role ends there. If the Raj Bhavan has to do something, we will, but we have our limitations,” he said.

Bhardwaj also denied having any personal animosity against anyone in the present government.

‘I Was Fortunate to Meet Mandela’

“The death of Nelson Mandela is a universal loss. I consider myself lucky to have met him during his time in jail,” said Bhardwaj at a function in Gandhi Bhavan organised to remember the anti-apartheid crusader from South Africa.

He said during his time as the Union Law Minister, he travelled to Johannesburg and Pretoria and was part of a special delegation that visited Mandela in jail.
